Kirkcudbe (O Gauge) Also known as “Kirkcouldbe”

Layout Description

This layout is based on Kirkcudbright station before the Beeching cuts with some normal layout compression/allowances for space. With the demise of “Garnock” this layout will replace it on the exhibition circuit.

The track plan is basically as Kirkcubright station with an extra loop for shunting in the yard. All the track has been hand built by our members.

The station buildings are replica’s of the original buildings, reproduced from plans/photo’s by our Ian Wallace, who has seems to able to produce that building at the nod for plans old black & white photo’s with any problems

First, we have 2 shots of the main station platforms from 2 different era’s,
On the left, with the original layout with a shed over the platform at the station buildings and on the right, later on after the platform shed roof had been removed.

    Layout Operation

This is fiddle yard-to-terminal layout, intended for 2/3 person operation. One handling the main line and/or fiddle yard and the other shunting in the yard.
